The News-Journal: Carney gets a look at life in Israel
June 10, 2010

Democratic congressional candidate John C. Carney Jr. of Wilmington visited the Israeli town of Sderot today, stopping at a police station about a mile from the Gaza Strip.

There, he met with local officials — including Mayor David Boskila — and examined remains of rockets that police officers there have collected. The rockets were fired by militants within Gaza, which has been under blockade by Israel and Egypt for three years.

Carney, former lieutenant governor for Delaware, is on a five-day fact-finding trip to Israel with members of the American Israeli Public Affaris Committee.

Also on his itinerary this week: Jerusalem, the West Bank, Masada, Tiberias.

Carney is running for Delaware’s only seat in the U.S. House of Representatives, which has been held since 1993 by Republican Mike Castle.

Open Government
I believe that openness in government leads to better results for Delawareans, which is why I have voluntarily posted my financial disclosure forms online. I want you to know that if I am elected to Congress, I will base my decisions on the best interests of Delaware's families and small businesses, not the special interest lobby.
